UPDATE: FOREIGN CITIZENS WHO WANT TO TRAVEL TO URUGUAY FROM NOVEMBER 1st. 2021

The Uruguayan authorities have announced that valid from November 1st, 2021, the following foreign citizens will be allowed to enter Uruguay:

– fully vaccinated foreign citizens, in the last 9 months, and the consequent immunity period completed;

– foreign citizens who had Covid-19 in the last 90 days

– foreign citizens who are minors up to 18 years old, vaccinated or not

All passengers travelling to Uruguay (Uruguayans, legal residents or foreigners that fullfil the abovementioned conditions), will need to fill the Declaration available in the link below, 48 hours before starting their trip:

Foreign citizens who are not vaccinated, will still need to request an authorization to enter Uruguay, as before. They can do so in the link below:

Today, Uruguay Viceminister, Carolina Ache, and Sweden State Secretary, Robert Rydberg, held HLC and agreed to renew bilateral Road Map 2021-25 to advance further political, trade and investments, cooperation and multilateral relations to promote democracy, support human rights and achieve SDG’s 2030.

UPDATED INFORMATION ON ENTERING TO URUGUAY

Due to the current covid-19 emergency, the Government of Uruguay announced on February 1^st of 2021 the following measures regarding entering to Uruguay:

1) The borders of Uruguay are open to all Uruguayans citizens, foreign citizens residents in Uruguay and foreign citizens with exceptional entry authorization.

2) The borders continue to be closed for foreign citizens.

3) The Consulates of Uruguay can no longer extend Certificates of impossibility of presenting a Covid-19 PCR test within the 72-hour period prior to starting the trip to Uruguay. Therefore, it is responsibility of the travelers to comply with this requirement in a timely manner.

UPDATED INFORMATION ON ENTERING TO URUGUAY

Due to the current covid-19 emergency, the Government of Uruguay announced the following measures regarding entering to Uruguay:

1) The borders of Uruguay are closed to all Uruguayans from December 21 of 2020 to January 30 of 2021, except for those who had obtained their tickets before January 6 of 2021.

Uruguayans traveling to Uruguay must follow the instructions and procedure available at https://www.gub.uy/tramites/ingreso-pais-uruguayos-durante-suspension-fronteras

2) The borders continue to be closed for foreign citizens and online requests for exceptional entry authorization are suspended until further notice. Those who already had prior authorization, remains valid.

MANDATORY SARS COV-2 TEST FOR FOREIGNERS TRAVELLING TO URUGUAY

We hereby inform that those foreign citizens that have been granted an authorization to enter Uruguay will need to present a negative result of a SARS CoV-2 test (PCR-RT technique) carried out not earlier than 72 hours before arrival, in an authorized laboratory at point of departure.

This obligation applies to foreign citizens so far. It is expected that it will also apply to Uruguayans soon. We will provide updated information in this regard.

It is the traveller responsibility to fulfil the requisite to enter Uruguay. In Sweden, more information on the test can be found at:
